Ponndorf© Pump Selection for Process Conditions
Ponndorf© Pump Applications
All pumps are carefully sized for the conditions of service.
Proper selection of a Ponndorf© Peristaltic Pump involves using the following application information:
- Pumpage Chemistry for Material Compatibility
- Pumpage Viscosity
- Pumpage Temperature
- Pumpage Solids (size, nature & concentration)
- Suction (flooded or amount of suction lift)
- Discharge Pressure
- Connections (hose barb, threaded, flanged, dairy)
- Duty Cycle (operating hrs./day & days/week)
- Motor (power & enclosure requirements)
We can also furnish the pump on a portable cart, with instrumentation or a a complete skid system.
Application Example
Process Requirements: A leading manufacturer required a pump that could handle an extremely high viscosity product in a coating service that could not tolerate any pulsations.
Solution: Specified a Ponndorf© High Pressure Hose Pump in a dual or twin configuration. Each head's occlusion operated 180 degrees off from the other to smooth out pulsations. A viscosity correction was run and the pump's motor and gear reducer sized to operate at a slow enough speed to insure the pump had sufficient time to draw in the highly viscous product..
Philosophy
Properly size the pump system to insure long uninterrupted service. A smaller pump running at a relatively higher speed will be less expensive at first but will not provide reliability.
